I, for one, would like to see a picture and bio of the pilot and co-pilot before boarding my next flight. Perhaps airlines should let the passengers vote for their choice of flight crew.

A lot of what is driving this insanity is the completely false faith in computerization and AI, which has infected aircraft technology to the point where future pilots only need to learn to “fly” in simulators, since the computers and AI onboard will do everything for the pilots. Until, for some odd reason, they don’t.

1972 Transworld Airlines JFK. I’m 13 yrs old, waiting to board a 747 for a flight alone to Germany. My father is regaling me with tales of failed flights over deep wide oceans. ( e wise that’s how dad rolled).
Then the flight crew strolls up led by a smiling glad-handing ancient grey white guy.
My father shook his head disappointedly and said. “Ah look at him, you’ll make it. Probably flew B-29s or some damn thing.”
