Why did Garland appoint Robert Hur? That doesn’t make sense to me. It seems like it was a thorough investigation. We know that’s not how things work in Washington.

The way I look at it Hur did the biggest favor for people like us. If he had recommended Biden for prosecution, that would take years. The Biden people would, naturally, say that they cannot comment on an ongoing investigation.

They could have continued to press Trump on his transgressions with regard to his document holding, and all the while continue to try to split hairs. But what Hur did, was say, yeah, Biden broke the law, but he is an idiot. So what can Biden say? No, I didn't break the law because I am an idiot, or no, I am not an idiot, so I broke the law.

Not the sort of narrative that you want to defend in an election year.
