So is he a good businessman? Yes.
Trump’s 6 bankruptcies were all corporate and all appear to be strategic-fairly common in the real estate game. Knowing when to fold ‘em is also evidence of being a good business man.
Agreed. Trump had 5 to 7 bankruptcies from what I can figure. The number varies from story to story, but this number is in your range. He invested in, what, 500 real estate deals? And 6 come back as needing bankruptcies? When 50 % of new startups in the US fail, I like the odds of investing with Trump. And of the bankruptcies, how many of them were saddled with so much debt, that it was near impossible to salvage those businesses.
RE the bankruptcies…One day I looked at that. He had something near 300 different corporations. Less than a handful went bankrupt. His success rate was deep into the 90%-95% range. That is a very good scorecard.
Trump is a master sales and promotion guy. He made a decent real estate guy into a “tycoon”. Then he turned that guy into a “playboy.” Then he turned that into a TV star. Then politician.
There is a lot I don’t care for about the guy. But did/does something right.
