I hit adulthood in the late 1960’s. My wife and I have a lava lamp. The article forgot CB radios that became ubiquitous because of the 55 speed limit resulting from the gas shortages.
“The article forgot CB radios...”
My dad had a huge antenna on the roof and one in his car as he was working on a large project about 5 miles from home. I don’t recall if mom could reach him at the site - I think she could?
“Tom Peterson said the windows are in. Call him back at 612-927-5562”.
“HEY LADY - get off the CB. You can’t be giving out phone numbers. This is for truckers!!”
New Years eve I would have a buddy over while my folks were out. We would watch the scary-movie marathon (Tarantula, Giant Ants, etc.), eat snacks, and talk to the truckers on the CB radio. Good times.
