A forgotten historic fact is how Russia stood with the US Union during the civil war. There were a number of European nations and banks there were heavily invested in slavery in in the confederate’s victory. Russia deployed warships to deter European forces from interfering.

I wonder if that could be a reason the Bolsheviks hated Russia and the Czars so much.

They didn’t do it because they had an interest in a Union victory. They did it for a realpolitic reason. There was a heating up of tension between Russia & the UK (I think France too!). The UK interpreted certain Russian actions as possible threats to India. The Russian counter was to get the bulk of its fleet away from easily blockaded and weather limited ports. Some Russian ships went to East coast ports NYC, etc others Pacific fleet to San Francisco. So two needs were served Russia had freedom of action with its fleet and the Union had the appearance of an “allied” fleet in its ports.
