Prosecutors say Chicago police caught a man this week less than 20 minutes after he completed his third armed robbery of the day, but a Cook County judge refused to keep him in jail.

Armed robbery sprees have plagued many Chicago neighborhoods over the past year or more, driving up the city’s robbery count by 23% last year.

Another spree was underway Monday morning. Each victim told police they were sitting in a vehicle when two men confronted them with a handgun, one wearing a black mask and the other wearing a white mask, prosecutors said.

Starting around 5 a.m., the robbers held a gun to a woman as she sat in her car in the 6300 block of South Mozart and demanded her valuables, according to prosecutors. A short time later, they robbed a man in the 6900 block of South Pulaski. Then, around 7 a.m., they robbed an iPad in the 3000 block of East 88th Street.

Within 20 minutes of the last robbery, CPD officers spotted a stolen Kia suspected of being used in the robberies. Its driver crashed in the 5500 block of South Wells as the cops tried to pull it over, officials said, and two men ran from the car.

The driver, who also brandished the gun during the robberies, got away. But the passenger, identified by prosecutors as 20-year-old Jacob Sickel of Brookfield, did not. Police said he had some of the second victim’s property when they caught him. In his arrest report, CPD offices described Sickel as a “self-admitted” member of the 12th Street Players gang in Berwyn.

Prosecutors explained the allegations to Judge Kelly McCarthy during a detention hearing this week and asked her to keep Sickel in jail as a public safety threat.

Not enough jail space. Just how much of that space can be opened by deporting the illegals amongst them? Make them wait out their court date in their own country and watch them not return. And those countries that won’t take them back? Let Trump handle it. He’ll let those on the left know what a big favor he’s done the country-something they just can’t handle.

wouldn’t it be interesting if criminals with an ankle monitor could be tracked by name and location with a simple and free software program? would anybody have a problem with this?

Illinois officially has a policy of ROR fot any crime up to 2nd degree murder. This includes sexual assaults, GTA, and grand larceny.

Unless you’re partaking in your 2A rights. Then you’re done for.

Chicago is a criminal’s paradise. Nothing but leftists leaders and incompetent police. Gov. Pritzker and his leftist wife/former mayor are more corrupt than Blagojevich or Daly. However, the latter kept crime down , not up, not to mention what is going on around the rest of state.

Not a policy, a new law passed by the democrat legislature and signed into law by the democrat governor. The governor was re-elected in 2022 because of the black vote in Chicago, so hopefully that area is hit hardest with the government they voted for.

I never saw the movie; is Wakanda overrun with crime and poverty?
