The disappearance of top Russian generals dating back to September has sparked questions about their whereabouts amid the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war.
Russian and Ukrainian forces have presented different public findings since the purported death of Russian Admiral Viktor Sokolov, who Kyiv said was one of 34 Russian officers killed in late September by a missile strike executed against the headquarters of the Russian Navy's Black Sea fleet in annexed Crimea. Sokolov was viewed by Ukrainian forces as a high-value target.
The lack of visibility by Russia's top general, Chief of the General Staff Valery Gerasimov, has additionally caused wonderment regarding whether he was killed as part of a Ukrainian strike at the beginning of this year on a Russian military command post. The attack occurred near Sevastopol and in proximity to a military unit near the city of Yevpatoria, in separate strikes on the Black Sea peninsula.

The biggest problem I have with the Ukrainian propaganda on Free Republic is the way the Armed Forces of Ukraine advance from victory to victory, with zero casualties, while the Russians are "dying by the dumpsterload".
"Tis but a flesh wound!"
I am glad they are getting there. How many more hundreds of billions of taxpayer money do they have to ship to Ukraine to put them over the top and finally evict that dying incompetent gravy on fries Prezident of Ruzzia?
In Bilbao, Crime = 0 - unless you are dead drunk and on a couple of streets you shouldnt be in anyway. I’ve heard of snatchers and pickpockets in San Sebastian during the tourist season.
Transport - Bilbao has about five rail systems including the Metro. Between the Renfe lines and the Basque regional train you can get to nearly all the small towns of the Basque country, and to Santander and Asturias. And there are buses besides, that will get you everywhere else.
The highways are superb and traffic is rare. Parking is a problem here and there. Do not depend on street parking in Bilbao or San Sebastian.
The worst part is getting in and out of there by train, from Madrid say. That IS the slowest train in Spain, a 7 hour trip.
Best time to go is probably April and May. Weather can intervene. A Basque coast road trip, Bilbao - San Sebastian - Biarritz (in France) is a classic European vacation.
I have no idea. On an annual basis it is a fraction of what is spent for the US Army+National Guard plus a large portion of the Air Force, which, you should note well, are mainly oriented to a European mechanized war, against this enemy.
You are already spending vast sums maintaining anti-Russian forces.
Thank you.
Now we can funnel even more billions to help Ukraine rebuild.
Putin's war, if nothing else, has been a deliberate massacre by Putin of his general corps--- along with a healthy chunk of colonels and lt. colonels -- precisely to preserve Putin’s kleptocracy from an Army-led military coup upon Putin’s death from cancer.
Another round of chemo for Mr. Putin. Put it on my tab...
