They call their design "hybrid electric" and the technology demonstrator they flew has a single turbine engine connected to a generator plus lithium batteries to power the eight electric motors.
They don't really define "hybrid-electric". Also the demonstration flight was with a two-seater, which reached 3,200 feet and went 30 miles.
How far will the plane go with nine passengers plus luggage plus one pilot in the middle of a winter snowstorm while circling the airport waiting for the runway to be cleared?
