We should get our troops out of there. Let the Saudis deal with it. Secure our border. Fight crime here.
You may want to consider:
A) The Saudis can’t handle it. Already proven. Biggest problem is that they simply don’t have the manpower, 2nd problem is they got savaged by world opinion / support withdrawn when they tried to squash the Houthis. Our libs being part of the “savaging” of course.
B) Even beyond countering very considerable economic risks being created by Iranian proxies, I suspecting that those troops are still at Tower 22 (etc., ie., “forward bases”) because we are trying to make sure Hezbollah, etc., realize they have a serious logistics problem due to those troops’ presence.
This helps Israel, but I don’t think helping Israel is even the main motive. The main motive is to deter Hezbollah from starting a full scale war in the North and East of Israel. Such a war puts the US in the position of either fighting Hezbollah, full scale, which REALLY kicks things off all over the region, OR, risking the Israelis if hard pressed, going nuclear.
