I’m pretty much of the opinion that if God were intervening here that there are a lot of innocent children who need help a lot more than the 49ers. But I could be wrong...just seems to me that a football game isn’t that important in this frequently horrible world.
Probably this just gave them the internal motivation to go for it with more confidence.
Such a public statement may just help a lot of down and out kids stay motivated and trust God when things are tough for them. Call that a force multiplyer. Where a few loaves and fishes given in public faith created more food than a crowd of 5000 could eat! A lot of people will see this and be inspired!
On the other hand, as I understand it, God's powers and abilities are not in short supply. I would speculate He has the resources to handle both accounts if He chooses.
But I don't disagree with your point. I hope the faithful pray for both unborn babies and the valor of our sporting teams in such a way as to witness to God that we are generous with our good will, rather than depraved in our judgment.

you’re right. football is just a game. but if God could use a donkey, he can use football. God is clearly using Purdy in this case. there’s a lot of young boys who admire football and games in general. also God answers prayer, and it’s us individuals who pray.
God won’t do your homework for you. But if you’re a child of His, and you ask humbly, fervently, and for His glory, He will recall for you what you already know, just when you need it. then He will give you the peace that gets you out of your own way. God favors a prepared mind. so many times, he’s reminded me of the goods, just in time.
