Could Robert F. Kennedy Jr. be Donald Trump’s running mate in 2024?
The Trump has had thoughts along these lines. The New York Post reported Saturday that “people close to former President Trump made preliminary overtures to Robert F. Kennedy about the possibility of serving as his running mate.” Someone whom the Post identified as “one person familiar with the matter” said that “Trump operatives expressed an interest in Kennedy early on, but it was all premature,” as it was “right out of the box when Bobby announced” his candidacy for president in April 2023.
At that time, Kennedy peremptorily dismissed such a possibility, stating on May 10, 2023: “Just to quell any speculation, UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES will I join Donald Trump on an electoral ticket. Our positions on certain fundamental issues, our approaches to governance, and our philosophies of leadership could not be further apart.”
Some patriots greeted that announcement with relief. Historian Larry Schweikart responded: “Gee Bobby, what I've been tellin' people. Thanks. Your anti-gun, anti-life positions are out of touch with modern Republican voters. Too bad. A little common sense and you'd be great.”
Yet, since then, Kennedy has more than once displayed a little common sense. In August 2023, he was still attempting to distance himself from Trump while endorsing many of his positions. Kennedy said: “There’s a lot of politicians throughout our history that have talked about the border issue as a way to stir up or incite xenophobia or raise nationalism,” in an apparent swipe at Bad Orange Man. But RFK continued: “I might come to this issue from a different perspective, and it’s a perspective of compassion, of humanitarianism, but also just common sense. A country cannot exist if it can’t secure its border.”

You tell me.
I’m not a Republican, which party has been getting your vote for 50 years?
“The Kennedy name is magic in some circles.”
The wrong circles.
“what does she really bring to the ticket?”
Charisma, I think. That shouldn’t matter, but it does.
I’m not the issue here. Try to keep up.
Did you notice how when I brought up the corrupt GOP and you immediately start questioning me? That’s odd.
Nor am I, you posted to me a couple of times without saying anything clear and I was trying to make some sense of it.
Uh huh.
What is odd are your posts, you aren’t saying anything yet are clearly on the attack and trying to start some sort of argument about who knows what.
I don’t trust you.
You are getting weirder.
Are you trying to make some sort of argument for FR to vote for the Democrat?
Or General Mike Flynn.
Et tu, Liz…?????????
Both Reagan and Trump were once Democrats (Trump from 2001 to 2009).
Too bad. Trump needs to swallow his ego and find a strong personality to pass his torch to.
First, saying that about Reagan is ridiculous, he voted for FDR and then Truman in 1948 when Texas was solidly Democrat and was campaigning for the Republican after that, he gave a major speech at the Goldwater convention and was elected to his second term as a Republican Governor and ran for the GOP presidential nomination all before McGovern’s run for President, much less the Clintons and Obama, and Biden, hardly a good example for modern discussions of ex-Democrats of the modern post-1960s Democrat party.
This Democrat only just registered as an Independent because he can’t get the Democrat nomination, he is still a Democrat and a liberal.
Then Reagan was ridiculous, because he often alluded to his past Democratic Party membership. It was a constant talking point with him.
He famously said, "I did not leave the Democratic Party. The Democratic Party left me."
You can find many memes with that quote.
Don’t be so simple-minded, that is one of the most effective lines a politician can use, it is why he delayed officially registering as a Republican, it was so he could spend more than a decade campaigning for Republicans nationally as “A Democrat for Eisenhower” and as “A Democrat for Nixon”.
It works for both parties and is very effective in reaching the other party’s voters and fence-sitters.
You really don’t see any difference between having been a Democrat in the Great Depression 1930s and WWII 1940s versus being a Democrat in the party of Obama, Hillary, and Biden and weak National Defense, abortion, gay marriage, trans, feminism, drugs, etc?
+100%
Why don’t the supporters of this Democrat use the issues to convince us to vote for him?
Go down the line and tell us why he is the best man possible on our conservative issues.
Wait….your not really endorsing this dem Kennedy to be on the ticket.
He’s nutz.
My agreement is that conservatism has failed.
We need something more than conservatism because “Conservatism” has not conserved.
MAGA!!
Call it populism whatever….
They seem to think their ‘democracy” is sacred I say we have a MAGA revolution and destroy their “Democracy”.
They make this a damn religious war over big government.
We the people want to be left alone!
