I’m still trying to figure out the hype for 5G. I’ve got it and don’t see any improvement in service whatsoever.

Outside of peak usage hours, my new phone’s 5G data reception is much faster than my previous phone’s 4G.

My cable Internet is blazing fast 24 hours a day.

I have 5g on my cell phones. It is ten fold faster than any cable or DSL in my area. I have 4 lines all tethered for my business internet, backup and file server, home internet, and my everyday carry phone. The 5g network has been more reliable than my old wired internet plus I can go anywhere with them there is cell service and is cheaper two boot even with 4 lines.

“5G” means two things, and they are wrongly conflated. Reading this sort of nonsense brings that out.

1. There are some new frequencies being used, and there are old, long-standing frequencies being re-used.

2. There are newer methods to squeeze more data throughput through the exact same frequency as before, using the exact same broadcast wattages. (Algorithms and encoding)

5G means both, while “algorithms and encoding” is just efficiency with any frequency used and “frequency” can mean every prior frequency and a bunch of new ranges, with the highest only reliably transmitting a small number of miles.

The new frequencies at the highest frequencies are, last I saw, owned and used by Verizon, primarily, as they bought those. They are best used for high density population centers.

The wattage used by Verizon's frequencies stays low, but when you get more of these in a small area, I would expect more body radiation. Whether that body radiation equates to cancer or such is a completely different concern. We haven't been using Verizon's frequencies much before, but car radar detectors are an example of one higher frequency user.

I do note I have sporadically better service with my new 5G phone, but only sometimes can it appear better than what I previously had. That comes down to saturation of antenna bandwidth, primarily, in my thinking.

And, no, I don't believe 5G hijacks sweat glands or make COVID vaccines make alien creatures that assemble space craft in our veins.

Same here. Crap still takes a while to load and play. Even FR, the most basic of websites, takes a while to load sometimes.
