It seems like most people did not die from Covid in the first place but rather from medical negligence (stay home, do nothing until you can’t breathe or your lips are turning blue) or malpractice of medical protocol of destroying their lungs by venting them and poisoning them with Remdesivir when the vent isn’t working fast enough.
Covid could kill you the same way the Flu kills you. You stay in bed until you get pneumonia. Initially, Covid killed you because your body couldn’t fight it. I knew people who died very quickly after getting Covid when it first came out.

Healthy, young people just didn't die, in 2020 or 2023, from COVID.
However, if you were healthy and young and died in a car crash, you died of COVID, even when not tested. The CDC let medical professionals label any death COVID if any medical staffer thought it was possible that they had COVID.
The whole reporting thing was a complete sham, including the use of PCR tests, with up to 40 amplification cycles. People who eventually got the vaccine were only cycled 28 times, as I recall.
Perhaps also because there was not yet a large pool of incubators (= people) who had been vaxxed, i.e., given a half-assed form of immunity.
Giving a population substandard immunity gives the virus more "breathing space" to develop resistance.
I believe that the expression was, "You can't vaccinate yourself out of an epidemic!"
