If you’re 27, your girlfriend has not been”long time.”
I
See
What
You
Did
There.........................
Nope, my undergrad degree is from public higher ed. Same for graduate course work. Not a DEI officer.
I should have solely asked questions.
Just took a course last fall. DEI the first part of the first class, then no more the rest of the semester. One data point but it -really- depends on the institution.
Got it thanks
Please correct if my memory is faulty...did the cause of Denver’s crash eventually come out that his homebuilt kit aircraft had two fuel tanks; and that in flight, one was exhausted but solo pilot Denver, strapped in as pilot, was unable to reach the control to switch over to the full tank?
Thus engines cut out and he crashed without power.
Are all powered planes capable of a “dead-stick” powerless landing in which the pilot can survive? Not a pilot of any kind, just curious.
Is that one of the Nigerian Air Force RV6s? Vans sent 60 kits to Nigeria for LOCAL assembly! (Shades of the BD-5.)
IIRC you are correct. The secondary fuel tank switch was actually behind the pilots seat.
He either couldn’t reach it or didn’t know where it was.
Aircraft mishaps and entertainers is an old story.
Nice airplane!
Vans kits are known for quality and durability and excellent flight characteristics. IIRC they are currently more popular than commercially built private aircraft.
Thats an RV6A with training wheel on the front.
Real pilots fly tail draggers!!
“Re: 11 - What an ignorant statement.
You don’t know anything about them? Or you do? Do you know their grades? Special projects? Courses taken?
No “sorry they died”. Just a cheap shot about them and DEI.
More evidence that the quality of discourse on the Internet needs improvement.”
I read this comment and wondered just what had the person said to get this response to his comment?
So I look and the “offending comment was by “Man from Oz” #11
Here it is: “It sounds somewhat crass to say at this time, but at least 2 MIT graduates on board? They must have been hard at work studying DEI while they were enrolled as students.”
I say, “Self, what is wrong with THAT!?
So I look at the screen name of the complainer and find it to be “Fury”.
Nuff said!
Re: 51 - Sadly, not germane to the issue.
Carry on.
Many years ago my dad bought his first plane from a farmer. A few months later the battery conked out when he tried to start the plane. The mechanics at the airport told him it a tractor battery and not rated for aircraft use..
Nope. Sounds like poor decision making.
Probable Cause: Dan Gryder (goto 36:00 on the youtube video time slider) for info on this crash.
Exactly. Took off in "Night VFR", and flew into "IMC"; Half Moon Bay "FOG", in the dark over the ocean.
This should be reserved for "Experienced IFR" pilots.
This is what killed John John. JFK Jr.
“A 911 caller reported seeing it crashing toward the water after first hearing “the engine sputter,” said Sgt. Philip Hallworth of the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office”
On a side note, engine sputtering may not necessarily mean engine failure. I play golf next to an airport and sputtering happens frequently. The same thing happens with finely tuned race cars. Just food for thought..
It gets too many low time private pilots that have limited time under the hood.
Yup, they are more demanding, especially in a crosswind. I salute you.
(I'm building a 7A, tricycle w nose gear).
For me, I want visibility when taxiing, especially at night. I can handle landings. Like with so very many RV pilots, (you won't find more talent in a GA aircraft community) I'm pretty good at them, but I do like forward visibility on the taxiway.
Thats a good point on visibility when taxiing.
Good luck on the 7A! A buddy is building a 7, sparing no expense, and I look forward to flying it!!
