Thank you. One of my main concerns about a Trump candidacy, is that he is pulling the party to the left, regularly and consistently. The planned destruction of Bob Good by the Trump campaign is yet another perfect example.

The responses in this thread you noted indicate that many of his supporters seemingly don’t care. This is of course why and how the party platform is actually being moved away from conservatism, as Trump alone can’t do it, it is and will be done by his devotees. I for one am not moving away from conservatism, and hope this site in whole site doesn’t either. Thanks again.

Trump doesn't have the power to lead the people who currently support him to the left. He has tried to take on the conservative wing of the party before and it has cost him. I recall his groveling after the last spending bill he signed, promising it wouldn't happen again. And recall, the Freedom Caucus came out looking better after the failed Obamacare repeal (in name only), which was very unpopular with conservatives. If Trump ever utters, "I can work across the aisle," he will begin polling near Christie.

War escalates between Trump and House Freedom Caucus

As far as I can see, FR has already scooted leftward. When loyalty to a person outweighs loyalty to principles, we’re already mired in emotion-driven politics. Only-Trumpers refuse the reality that there’s no such thing as “turns” in politics. If you’re not kow-towing to Trump, you must hate him with a purple passion. There are only extremes in an only-Trumper’s mind, and that’s all too close to how leftists and cultists think.
