I believe "suspending" their campaign allows them to continue raising and spending campaign money.
They can use the money for future campaigns, or at some point, retire from politics, and convert the money to personal use.
Suspending? That’s one of the scams. While they can’t directly convert their un-spent campaign cash to personal use they can use it to support other elected Wannabees. They can use the invested interest for personal use. But mainly they can rent office space, rent cars, etc., pay for political travel and pretty much use it for anything except groceries or a new house.
And remember when Hilliary lost to Obozo? She still owed 18 million$ in campaign debt. She had it but didn’t want to pay it. The interest on it financed her lifestyle until Odumbo paid the bill for her after her stint as SOS.
