I actually submitted a vacation request for that 7 years ago but the boss didn’t take it seriously then. Still like to drive out to Sis’s place for it (totality about 1.5 hours north) but that might be a stretch what with May trips out to the spread for prep and NV state and other FT matches.
One of the stipulations to my staying until the end of September, versus retiring this March, is that I WILL be off for the eclipse. I already have a room in that region and will be hopefully photographing it.
I have the solar filter for the telescope, various other trinkets and adapters, and can easily photograph it, though it gets very tricky when you get close to totality. The difference in brightness is enormous.
My daughter and son in law visited during the one in August in...1917 I think. They were going to drive up north a bit to see it better but wound up just going to an open place by the river here. It got very dark and all the birds sang their night time songs.
