California homeless people are found living inside CAVES 20 feet below street level complete with home furnishings - as Democrat state grapples with vagrancy and LA begins annual count of those living rough
Groups were removed from the eight caves on the banks of the Tuolumne River in Modesto.
Some of the caves were fully furnished and even had wall murals and a makeshift fireplace but they were at risk of flooding.
Los Angeles is currently carrying out their annual homelessness count as 75,500 were sleeping on streets in county on one given night last year :

As many as 9,355 children are estimated to have suffered sex abuse in Germany’s protestant churches since the end of the Second World War, a new study has revealed.
An extensive 871-page report by independent researchers found the incidence of abuse since 1946 was much higher than previously thought, with many of the estimated 3,497 perpetrators hired to official positions in the clergy.
Some 2,225 document cases of wrongdoing were reviewed in the study commissioned by the church itself in 2020, which paid 3.6mn euros (£3.1m) to analyse various internal structures that enable such abuses of power to go on.
