It isn’t one individual. I would bet a HUGE majority would fail this three question test, and many of them wouldn’t give a damn.

As an engineer, English was not my long suit. A sentence that begins with ‘A’ seems like a singular person although ‘gentlemen’ implies plural. Nits have been picked.
