They could at least get rid of the stupid poem.
“Keep, ancient lands, your storied pomp!” cries she
With silent lips. “Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me,
I lift my lamp beside the golden door!”

Since the founding, there has always been a large public opinion opposing immigration by the riff-raff.
For example, we shut off the forced immigration of British prisioners and workhouse inmates, causing England to ship them to found Australia.
We also shut off the importation of excess population that the African kings wanted to sell to slavers.
The Irish were not welcome in the 1840s.
Even during the most welcoming period after the Civil War there was a significant opposition by nativist, particularly against southern European Catholics and eastern Europeans.
The poem is propaganda.
Yes it was from Emma Lazarus, she was “an activist” in Georgia and anti-Czarist. That was the same region and time that birthed many communist blood thirsty radicals like Stalin. She was one herself or at least ran in those circles IMO.
Make no bones about this there is a strong anti-white racist element at play here as well. Look at Cori Bush’s many racist public comments. She is fighting strongly against any immigration controls now because this record breaking flooding wave is nearly all non-white.
She would never admit it.
That is opposed to myself and I would think most conservative views on immigration. That is limit the numbers and make it strictly merit based, regardless of race.
