I was put on Gabapentin to relieve sciatic pain prior to spine surgery. I can't say I noticed any major improvement. What I did notice was a dramatic improvement for Restless Leg Syndrome (RLS) which was not previously relieved by other drugs. After surgery for my back I continued to take a reduced dosage (900mg) of Gabapentin to successfully control the RLS.
Some people can’t tolerate it because it puts them to sleep. I have an acquaintance who loved it to relieve Shingles pain.
>>Has anyone seen any effect from taking this drug?”
The usual...
Dizziness and daytime sleepiness.
But 300mg is keeping my RLS and leg neuropathy in check. Readily observed when I miss a dose. RLS occurs every 20 seconds, keeping me from falling asleep when I need sleep.
A sleepness condition can lead to depression and suicide ideation. “Sleep deprivation” is used in Western military interrogations.
