I have to admit that I have had an obsession with human powered generation systems at various times. One year I set up a Christmas tree with LED lights powered by a hand cranked magneto from an antique telephone. Then I made my grandkids crank it to light it up. They loved it for about two minutes then they went back to their cell phones and tablets.
