INDIANOLA, Iowa—As he stood on the brink of a seemingly unstoppable march to another Republican presidential nomination, Donald Trump couldn’t stop thinking about all the ways he had been betrayed. “Do you think this is fun? Actually?” the former president mused. “It’s not fun,” he said, “but we’re getting our point across.”
The hundreds of devoted supporters who had braved subzero temperatures Sunday to cram into a second-floor auditorium at the Simpson College student union, half an hour south of Des Moines, hung on Trump’s every word as he riffed for nearly two hours. The crowd was dotted with white caps bearing the words “TRUMP CAUCUS CAPTAIN” in embroidered gold letters, and the former president wore one himself—a totem of the ruthlessly professional organization that Trump’s campaign has built, a far cry from the slapdash operation that failed to deliver him Iowa in early 2016. “These caucuses,” Trump said gleefully, “are your personal chance to score the ultimate victory over all of the liars, cheaters, thugs, perverts, frauds, crooks, creeps—and other quite nice people.”
If the polls are to be believed, Trump is poised to win Monday night’s caucuses by the largest margin in the contest’s history, potentially putting him in position to quickly wrap up the GOP nomination. It is a result so anticlimactic as to seem inevitable: the front-runner who never lost his lead, the hapless rivals who spent hundreds of millions only to consume each other. Given Trump’s unshakable hold on his core supporters and his stature as a former president, there was never any other plausible outcome, said Rick Wilson, an anti-Trump former Republican operative and founder of the Lincoln Project: “This whole primary has been Kabuki,” he said, because “40% of the Republican base will set themselves on fire for that man.”

I voted for Trump tonight and couldn’t wait to do it. MAGA
Notice his supervisor stationed at his side carefully watching his performance, too.

He became confused and went on to say "Where should I put these oranges?"
Well, he’s the reason they need the food bank.
Trump has become a folk hero... that is the reason for his support and the inability of the political class to to stop him.
The political class still thinks they are dealing with a single man and if they can defeat him they can go back to business as usual.
Trump is a movement and as the most visible aspect has become a legend embraced by the people for various emotional reasons. Legends are raised up by the people not crafted, top down, by political leadership.
“I’d be more willing to set Rick on fire’’.
That would do for a start.
I’d rather hang the smarmy prick with piano wire from a meat hook.
I refuse to believe Trump was sitting at the feet of the RNC. He’s a billionaire businessman. He hires Yes men and fires them when they quit saying Yes. He needs to hire people who don’t do anything. There is too much doing in Washington right now.
What you have and who you were doesn’t matter when you’re playing politics. Not when you’re playing with evil. And that’s what most most politicians are and the RNC definitely is
I have to believe democrats are scared witless having a demented Biden as their guy to face off against Trump this time. In 2016 they wee scared to death that Bernie would win the nomination, and their entire focus was rigging their party to get Joe in. Then they got lucky with covid and the election ballot mess and could get a demented guy over the finish line with fraud in 8 Deep Blue cities.
This time, Biden is not liked, his policies failed, he has a dozen major failures on his resume, and he’s obviously demented - they will change him out.
OOPS, 2020
“Trump has become a folk hero... that is the reason for his support and the inability of the political class to to stop him”
That’s it exactly. A modern day danl Boone or Davy Crockett.
.
I think he will be more circumspect this time about his picks.
