“One of the first things that annoyed me about Trump was his statement in 2016 that the Federal Gov’t should hold on to land in the states, as they could ‘manage’ it better. Wrong. A) They manage it badly & B) you can make deep cuts in FedGov by getting land back in state hands & eliminating all those departments that manage it. That’s the kind of thing I want to see in a new Trump Admin.”

I want to see the Federal land in the states west of Mississippi reduced to no more than the median percentange of land held/owned by the Federal government in the states east of the Mississippi. I want to see that accomplished by (1) given 50% of the land the Federal government must give up returned to control of the states (if they manage it badly that’s a state problem) and (2) 50% of it sold outright to American citizens and American companies (no foreign individuals and no foreign owned/controlled companies), with (3) 100% of the proceeds from the land sales used to pay down the federal debt.

I also want legislation to end and reverse the ability of the executive branch to designate various “preserves” and national parks, without VOTERS consent in the states - not the state government, the state’s voters. I want each current federal land of that type to have to be submiited to the state’s voters to decide if that federal designation should be kept or not. If the voters say no, then land must be returned to the state.

“We need an activist VP to let him know where there are constitutional problems & how to solve them.”

That does not require an “activist VP”. It requires a good cabinet with good legal persons with them and a good AG.

Trump did have some “employee” issues in his administration. A terrific VP might help him avoid them in the future.

According to Mike Lee, the Supreme Court has ruled twice that the Feds cannot hold on to land outside of constitutional limitations. I remember George W. Bush saying that he tried to give the land back to the states, but they didn’t want the expense of managing it. I would’ve said too bad, if you won’t take it, I’m giving it to the counties. The counties could then decide what is useful & either sell to private entities for development or designate for citizen recreational activities. It should’ve been done long ago.

And I think National Parks should go away. The Fed shouldn’t control them when the states are perfectly capable of doing so. This would also stop the UN from designating things as cultural or natural heritage sites.
