Texas National Guard seizes key border crossing point, blocks Feds

The Border Patrol Union lauded Texas GOP Gov. Greg Abbott's actions, saying he "is not harming Border Patrol operations, he is enhancing them."

The Texas National Guard has seized control of city property in a key border crossing point and is restricting access by the Border Patrol, the Texas Military Department said in a statement obtained by Fox News's Bill Melugin.

The move comes amid myriad legal battles between Texas and the federal government over Operation Lone Star, Austin's unilateral effort to secure its border Mexico amid perceived apathy from the federal government and an unprecedented surge in illegal crossings.

The Border Patrol Union lauded Texas GOP Gov. Greg Abbott's actions, saying he "is not harming Border Patrol operations, he is enhancing them. His seizing control of Shelby Park allows our agents to deploy to troubled spots that experience high numbers of gotaways. Governor Abbott’s actions should be seen as a force multiplier."

Abbott in late December, signed a law making illegal entry into Texas a state crime and permitting authorities to arrest illegal immigrants and state judges to order their deportation. The state has also quarreled with Washington over its installation of a buoy barrier in the river and the installation of razor war along the shore.

"The Texas National Guard has maintained a presence with security points and temporary barrier in Shelby Park since 2021. The current posture is to prepare for future illegal immigrant surges and to restrict access to organizations that perpetuate illegal immigrant crossings in the park and greater Eagle Pass area," they told the outlet.

"Texas will continue to deploy Texas National Guard soldiers, DPS troopers, and more barriers, utilizing every tool and strategy to respond to President Biden’s ongoing border crisis," Abbott spokeswoman Renae Eze told the New York Post.

It will be interesting to see how this plays out. I think that the AG should be issuing arrest warrants for everyone involved in the coordination of the illegal invasion.

Hopefully they’ll make the illegals change their own diapers. Gringo Federal employees shouldn’t be doing that.

What will Texas do when, privately, Deep State tells Texas pols that Deep State will pull all federal funding from Texas unless Texas complies.

Well, it depends on why Texas is doing this, if it’s the real deal or just more Kabuki theater.

“Deep State will pull all federal funding from Texas unless Texas complies.…”

Texas pays fed taxes that they can stop paying.

This business will get out of control. It will get out of control and we'll be lucky to live through it.

Someone is going to Fed Prison over this...

They don’t do that anymore. It doesn’t work. What does work is they cancel the Super Bowl, World Series and Tater Swuft concerts in Texas. That scares the crap out of John Q. and Karen Q. Public.

Take a good, hard look at the Texas budget.

Texas hasn’t planned for this threat.

And hasn’t had an honest conversation with Texas citizens about what has to be done if federal funding is yanked.

But then neither has any of the other 49.

Take a look at all 50 state budgets, folks.

There is not a red state in the nation.

Not one.

"The Border Patrol Union lauded Texas GOP Gov. Greg Abbott's actions"

This suggests that BP agents are acting under duress. If Congress is really serious about closing the border and addressing how this invasion is being facilitated, ignore Mayorkas for now, and start subpoenas at the bottom of the chain.

Ask them:
"What orders were you given?"
"Who gave them?"
"What contact have you had with parties outside the formal chain of command regarding your duties, including third parties such as NGOs, etc. Who are they?"

Keep working up the chain, watch who squeals. Jail any who prevaricate with contempt, 5th amendment excepted. In the case of the 5th amendment cases, who were their associations, because that and the prevaricators are potential leverage points.

"The fedgov will escalate this quickly. They have to. Expect insurrection charges."

Those are bad optics. Feds launching insurrection charges against those trying to stem an invasion?

They should be Indicting Federal Officials and serving Governor Warrants. If the President has NO IMMUNITY for official acts, neither do Federal Officials.

“Texas pays fed taxes that they can stop paying.”

ABSOLUTELY. And they pay much more than they receive back. They do not need the Feds to support them at all. In fact they would be net positive to keep it all in state.

That is exactly what I was thinking. Just do what NY and GA have done to Trump. If they refuse to turn themselves in then put a bounty on their heads and turn loose the bounty hunters.

I would think so. But no insurrection charges. Biden will just get a federal judge to order Texas to stand down. That should do it.

The Texas Guard needs to disarm the BEEPS of their bolt cutters they are using to destroy the concertina wire paid for by Texas taxpayers.

Didn’t Trump get sued and lose for trying to withhold Fed money unless a state did something.
