Scare event drumbeats continue:
One thing I discovered on the final episode of last season's "NCIS" is that the government has a scenario called "Black Sky" where the electrical grid goes down.
The entire national grid could only be taken down by an EMP blast from a nuke. Such an act could only come from certain parties who would be removed from the face of earth if they tried it.
But individual areas could be taken down by terrorism, either kinetic action against electrical infrastructure or computer viruses deployed against information technology infrastructure. The "NCIS" plot featured a Russian oligarch using a computer virus to initiate "Black Sky" and take down the electrical infrastructure of the District of Columbia.
A "Black Sky" event in real life would be aimed at most or all of our top twenty cities. Imagine ten days of darkness without power in our worst run cities. Our military, repatriated from our various bases around the world, would be the only hope to keep some form of American civilization intact.
