Haha that was just a promotion.
Very nice though.
I don’t know exactly.
Might be because China is literally next door.
America was here for a while, but China has always, always, always, always, always been here.
Always.
Vietnam was ruled by China for a long, long time. Now they are very, very, very insistent on fierce independence. Sure they get along with China very well. In fact that seems to be growing now.
But ALWAYS, they are wary of China. Deeply.
America? Heck just a very, very temporary inconvenience, besides it is a (wonderful) option for additional growth.
It can be a place to emmigrate to.
AND, we left after the war.
Vietnamese love America.
Even in the northern part of the country.
For real.
The Japanese have the Yakuza.
Sure they don’t usually bother visitors. But that may be something we don’t usually consider.
Otherwise the Japanese are very nearly perfect. But ...
Nothing similar in Vietnam.
Say it ain’t so!
Nothing but BS propaganda. Known far too many business travelers that would say Vietnam is reasonably safe, but not so safe as to make these stupid statements.
Yes and no.
I did note I myself was robbed of my phone several years ago. Even had a folloW-on attempt made later, I held onto it that time but got knocked off my bike.
That said Vietnam is changing. For the better.
Slow and steady. Improving.
The interesting thing is, the Chairwoman is, a woman.
At least that is my understanding.
That was a year or two ago, I believe.
I suspect that’s baloney. What’s your source for this? I have lived in Vietnam for 42 months so far and live here now.
Here’s an article from the Catholic News Agency (Mainstream):
Here’s one about Catholics’ homes being destroyed by Asia News:
Again from the Catholic News Agency, government agencies bulldoze the Archbishop’s house:
US military stationed here cause more problems for Japanese than the Yakuza , especially sex crimes .
It’s fortunate that Ho Chi Minh died in 1969 before the end of the war.
It took about 10 years after reunification for the Vietnam ‘Communists’ to realize that Communism doesn’t work.
Interesting. Thank you for that information
“I’d rather smell French s___ for five years, than Chinese s___ for a thousand years.” - Ho Chi Minh
Biggest mistake we made was allowing the French to have their Indochina colonies back after WWII.
I much prefer Thailand. I plan to retire there.
