I agree with you on that. There is a difference bewteen a waitress and an order taker. There is a difference between having my glass refilled as needed and having to go to a fountain and fill it myself. There is a difference between having my table cleared and having to dump paper and plastic into the trash myself.

If we’re taking cheap shots, your mother raised you poorly.

She taught me the mark of a gentleman/woman is to treat those serving you with the utmost respect and dignity.

She also taught me never to steal, which is exactly what you're doing when you accept service, but not only refuse to pay for it, but leave your server to pay the taxes on the expected tip (12%) so they actually lose money for the "pleasure" of serving you.

How someone could get to adult life without knowing that is a real puzzler.

They can always do what restaurants in Seattle do, which is turn the servers into commissioned workers where they present the diner with an 18% commission fee.
