Until there's an actual body (or until the Russians actually admit it officially), why should anyone believe this current report given the prior track record?
It’s a Russian Wagner Group affiliated source, not Ukrainian.
The Daily Mail verbiage is interesting as Will Stewart "wiggles" after the breathless headline.
One reads:
The rumour of Gerasimov's death appears to have begun circulating after a Russian Telegram channel called 'Ordinary Tsarism' posted an unconfirmed report.Exciting stuff, eh?It read: 'According to preliminary data, Valery Gerasimov, who was in a command post near Sevastopol at the time of the attack, was killed in the attack on Crimea.'
The message then disappeared, with the channel giving no evidence for the claim.
All of my best military intelligence "disappears" with subsequent :no evidence for the claim."
Since this is war between two non-NATO nations -- "officially" -- one would expect losses on both sides. The true measure of the outcome of the war will be when it ends, how it ends and as it ends.
Until then, hogwash is spelled out in Ukrainian, Russian and English.... Mostly English interestingly.
This is because, in parallel with a real war, there is an ongoing information war, propaganda salvos fired in response to propaganda salvo. Believe them all? A better stance is to believe none, and wait for the eventual end.
