One big problem with going for “historic firsts” is that the beneficiaries forget that they really aren’t “historic firsts.”

I have gotten that impression from watching interviews, as well. Coincidentally, she’s an MMA fighter first, not an actress.
I’ve gotten similar impressions of others ... R. Lee Ermey, for example. Sure, if he was your DI he was probably a bastard (or at least the recruits thought so) but I got the impression that outside that context, he’d have been a great friend or neighbor.
