Thank you for the additional information. The possible misspelling of Dr Maganga’s first name is curious but not conclusive. And I would assume that the actual signature on a birth certificate copy would be by a clerk, not the actual administrator.
But even more curious, it seems that someone else named Dr Merry Othigo was hospital administrator in February 2009 when Smith claims to have obtained the birth certificate. In addition, Smith has never published a facsimile of the passport stamp proving he entered Kenya when he said he did, and instead claims to have taken a lie detector test to attest to that.
All of this info is on Lucas Daniel Smith’s own online blog, and curiously he has done nothing to remove the posts of people there calling him a forger and fraud.
So I have now concluded that there is substantial doubt that Smith’s Obama birth certificate is genuine, but I do not yet feel absolutely certain that it is a forgery.
Which raises the further question of why Obama would make public an obvious forgery as proof of his birth in Hawaii? And why no doctor or nurse in the USA has ever come forward to attest to witnessing Obama’s birth, while his paternal grandmother claimed to have witnessed his birth in Kenya?

The mystery of Barack Obama’s birthplace remains to be resolved.
