Environmental extremists who have never had to live with the results of what they require of us.
If these moron regulators had a clue, they’d concentrate on requiring longer life, repairable machines versus overcomplicated stuff to meet extreme “efficiency” standards that result in the machine getting tossed out every several years.
We recently installed an “on demand” water heater (much needed in our multi-generational household with youngsters). Not sure if that’s the same as a flash heater. It works very well & takes up much less space in our horribly crowded laundry area. It did need a dedicated vent to the outside and a CO detector installed but we love it. Hard to say what the cost difference is; since we installed a gas heater on the pool too, and that’s quite pricey to run $$$$
Here’s a life hack for the “high efficiency” washers our DC overlords have foisted upon us.
Much of what they’re doing is trying to reduce water use. To heck with that, I want clean clothes, that takes water.
How do you get them to use more water?
Well, most have a sensing stage at the beginning of the load that determines how much water to use. I keep a 1 gallon plastic pitcher in the laundry sink I have next to my washer. I get my load, detergent, perhaps oxy ready. I fill the 1 gallon pitcher with hot water, and pour it on the laundry. This gets you an incremental 1 gallon of water, AND it gives you ~8 pounds of additional “laundry” weight in the sensing phase, so the machine adds more water than it would otherwise.
This has worked very well for me, I suggest trying it.
Now, it’s ridiculous that we have to resort to this sort of life hack to overcome the crap our genius over-regulators have imposed upon us, but here we are, what are you gonna do?
Everyone in the Biden administration lacks any common sense about anything.
Three year record proves it.
If I ever have to use one of those machines, I will utilize your tip. Thanks!
That makes the WEF sound as benevolent and humanitarian as the left tries to make $oro$ look.
We have a small electric instantaneous hot water heater for our cottage.
For the little use it gets, it is well worth it. The cottage could not accommodate a regular sized water tank, and there’d be the issue of winterizing it every year. With this, we take it out and bring it home with us every fall for the winter. And it does not draw that much electricity that the panel can’t handle it.
The cottage came with an old electric one which was 20 gallons and had rotted out. One shower, and it was hours to recharge so any shower would be it for hot water for most of the day.
They have their uses but I could not imagine using an electric one for home use.
The morons who established these regulations don’t seem to have the wherewithal to realize that if they make the machines fill less, people will do more, smaller loads, or hack it like you do.
People are not going to put up with dirty laundry.
The water saver dishwashers are no better. Two stinking hours to run through a cycle. Since it’s now just mr mm and me, we hand wash the few dishes we use. It’s easier than loading the dishwasher and letting it rot for a couple days while we try to fill it up.
So guess who ends up using more water thanks to stupid bureaucratic regulations?
We are exceedingly blessed as we have abundant water on our property and the well is good enough to bottle. We had it tested when we bought the house. Thank God for His provision that way.
This isn’t stupidity on Deep State’s part.
This is about annihilating the middle class.
And not just here in the US...
Mr mm and I vacationed once on AnnaMaria Island in an AirBnB and the place had the laundry and water heater outside. It was kind of something to wrap my mind around to think of living in a place that was warm enough all year round that you never had to worry about it freezing.
I do realize that.
Of course, they will exempt themselves from all they impose on us.
Note the use of the term RESIDENTIAL.
Isn't that interesting...
Not on all of us.
See my reply #74.
Is there one humongous carve-out for apartment complexes...?
If so, isn’t that interesting.
That’s right because we will own nothing and be happy.
TPTB want all of us dependent on them for the basic necessities of life. All the easier to control the masses by.
It works well for us for the cottage. It’s very space efficient and there is always hot water.
Basically, it’s just needed for the shower and dishes, so not a lot of use.
Laundry is done at the camp laundromat.
