Winning a BAFTA for 'The Full Monty,' Wilkinson also appeared in 'Shakespeare in Love,' 'In the Bedroom,' 'The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel' and 'Batman Begins' and won an Emmy for his role as Benjamin Franklin in the 'John Adams' miniseries.
Actor Tom Wilkinson, known for his BAFTA-winning role in The Full Monty and Oscar-nominated turns in Michael Clayton and In the Bedroom, died Saturday. He was 75.
Wilkinson died “suddenly” at home, according to a statement from the actor’s family, who were with him when he died as was his wife.
“The family asks for privacy at this time,” the statement continued.
Wilkinson was nominated for six BAFTA awards over the course of his career, winning best performance by an actor in a supporting role in 1998 for The Full Monty. His other nods included recognition for Michael Clayton, In the Bedroom and Shakespeare in Love.

RIP.
Rest In Peace, Tom.
great actor
Wilkinson was awesome in In the Bedroom. movie was a slow burn, but had serious payoff, and a message that Freepers would appreciate about family , avoiding trouble, and dealing with bad people.
IN THE BEDROOM (2001)...I watched that movie also...
The ending was interesting...
RIP...Mr. Wilkinson...He was also good in THE PATRIOT...Mel Gibson movie...
I’ve seen him in a lot of movies. My two favorites were The Full Monty and The Exorcism of Emily Rose, two very different movies.
He was also great as Gen. Cornwallis in ”The Patriot.”
One of the all-time greats, Tom Wilkinson could play anything.
A wonderful role for him was Pecksniff in Martin Chuzzlewitt opposite Paul Scofield.
He will be missed.
My wife and I really liked his acting.
He was wonderful.
May he and his loved ones be closer to God, now.
He was great in Michael Clayton.
I think I recall a TV movie where he transitioned to female. That was weird.
He played the fictional character based on Gen. Cornwallis in “The Patriot.” Wonderful role, though some of his others were much more prestigious.
