That's a change of tune. He's always been happy to have them disrupt everybody as frequently as possible on every possible occasion. Why the change of heart? Maybe the Dems are looking forward to Nov 2024 and have suddenly become the party of law & order? At least for a few months.

I don’t work in NYC anymore, but when I did “Spend New Years Eve in Times Square” was #1 on the list of “New York Things New Yorkers NEVER Do.”
The pile of cash required to get me to stand in Times Square for 12 straight hours wearing Depends is ginormous.
