I was born in 1955. In that year over 1,000 people died of polio in the United States alone. By 1975 there were more than 250,000 people in the U.S. still at least partially paralyzed by the results of polio.

There are a lot of younger folks who are anti-vax. A lot of us older folks remember polio, and measles, and other diseases.

Hubs’ grandma survived polio but struggled with the after effects the rest of her life.

One of my great aunts died of diptheria.

One of my aunt’s husbands had TB so we all had to get tested for it.

The dangers were real and sadly might be coming back.
