Younger generations have no clue of the sacrifices made during WWII. My parents told me a few stories, without harping on it.
That's the reason they're called the Greatest Generation and sadly, there'll never be another like them the way this country has gone so far to the left.
My parents and family told me stories too - those people really did save the nation ... An uncle who was at D-Day - on a ‘tin can’ working as a radio man. He wrote about that time years later and about friends who died there. A friend of my father’s who was a pilot - bombed Germans. I knew him when I was a kid. None of those people talked about their experiences until years later. They really were a great generation.
I agreed. They paid the price. At the same time, they lucked out. It could have been a lot worse. The Soviets bled for us at Stalingrad.
