I’m so old that I remember when a position such as a University chancellor, dean, or professor was held by people of unimpeachable morals. That was in addition to being a scholar and critical thinker who had written articles and books often referenced by other researchers in their field of study. Previously, these people required the same from those under their authority including the students.
