You can make a very nice pot of Pasta Putanesca with sardines instead of anchovies. Capers and black olives are key.
I have a dozen cases of sardines, anchovies, kipper, Halibut, and red salmon. Plus tuna.

I sub smoked sardines in a clams fettuccine recipe and add kalamata olives. Big hit with the family. Even my 5 yo begs me to make it.
My 8 yr old granddaughter makes a sardine and caper pizza when she comes over on weekends, it actually tastes pretty good.
