I can’t remember how old I was, maybe 10 or 11, my parents put me on a Greyhound bus and sent me somewhere. Summer camp maybe. It was a bit of an adventure.

I had a cousin in 1959, age 7, who went 500 miles by Trailways, alone. He had some schedule and everything worked. Today? No one would let some kid travel like that on a bus.

Last time I was on a Greyhound bus was when I was going to Maine from Hartford. At Boston's Greyhound station, I guy wanted to know why a 15 year old was reading the National Review. He wanted to hand me the Advocate. That was in the early 70s.

Couldn't wait to get my license after that!!
