Festivus is a dysfunctional "holiday" started by Daniel O'Keefe, father of Dan O'Keefe who was a writer for Seinfeld. It's a twisted summary of family dysfunction that was written into a Seinfeld plot because the writers had nothing else in the tank for an episode near Christmas.
