“The Cimarron was a fading memory.”

___________

Completely faded from my memory. I had to look it up, because I wasn’t sure what the article was referring to. Apparently on the market from ‘82-‘88. I got out of the Navy in ‘82 and was driving a 1979 Datsun 210 5-speed hatchback that got 48 mpg highway and never broke down.

“I got out of the Navy in ‘82”

I started my Navy recruiting career in 82. Funny story; GSA (who provides vehicles for most government agencies) ran out of cars. They went to the local GM dealer and leased our cars. When our guys went to pick up the cars they were told they could have Chevy Celebrities or Cadillac Cimarrons and there was no price difference. They called the CO and asked if they could get the Cimarrons. His reply, “There is no way in heck I’m going to have 60 Minutes show up and ask why Navy Recruiting has a parking lot full of Cadillacs”. We got the Celebrities.
