Surely those girls would be just as pretty/graceful without destroying their toes . . .

Besides, this way you can sit in your underwear, drink bear and scratch while you watch.
The music is great; the story never was that appealing to me. The Fantasia version was fun to watch, though.
Took the family to see it. Yes, we were dressed in our finest.
A lovely meal beforehand was icing on the cake.
But $1,400?
More like $600.
My kids were older (teens) when we saw it and everyone thoroughly enjoyed it.
It’s not too hard to local productions by smaller ballet companies or smaller ballet schools.
Those are the best.
I wouldn't recommend delving too deeply into the plot. It's a little unsettling. Just my opinion. Merry Christmas, all!
$1400?!! Is this “The Nutcracker” starring Taylor Swift?
You couldn’t pay me triple that to go...
I had no idea it was that expensive - since I’ve never been and don’t like those kinds of shows. I assumed it was more like $15. LOL.
I like movies where the job of the actor is to make you forget he is acting. In my opinion, a good actor is one that can act so down-to-earth you can imagine he’s a normal person and forget you’re watching a movie. In real life conversations, people don’t make extravagant gestures and poses, or break into song.
The trouble with broadway shows, operas or ballets is that it’s the opposite - they all seem so self-important and self-absorbed - Look at me! Look at me! I’m a star!
If a movie actor behaved that way he would be considered to be “over-acting” - like Al Pacino.
“Let’s also not forget some of the problematic elements in “The Nutcracker” in terms of how it can propagate stereotypes.”
Stereotypes are not derived from nothing. I laugh when liberals refer to some innocuous behavior as “problematic”. Even if it is behavior exhibited by 95% of the group, they will argue that “not ALL ____s are that way.”
LOL -- I see what you did there!
Wishing you a most blessed Christmas, DallasBiff. May God hear your prayers and answer them.
