At least it wasn't stolen two weeks ago. Turns out it was just a simple, clerical error.

In the past hour, while I had been suddenly detoured for a mighty rescue (a "golden-crowned kinglet" was down hard after hitting the door window; first time I'd ever seen such a bird at all)...

As for the tiny bird... he slowly recovered, sitting and then standing in my hand. He must have liked my hand on a cold day, because he stayed put for a long while. I eventually set him down so I could go back inside for my sweater and camera.

I picked him back up, and after he posed for the pictures, he flew directly to "David" (the butterfly bush. Well no, I don't normally name plants, but I named it for its name, plus for attracting monarchs. Buddleja davidii)
