The problem is that you are confusing the church with its members. The LDS church is not Trinitarian therefore not “Christian” but its member can be Christians. My uncle was LDS. He knew next to nothing about the church because he didn’t go to the LDS church(there was no local ward) but he was Saved.

Very nice. Your use of the word, “plausibly”, is completely apropos here with respect to putting some flesh on pieces of the narrative that are a bit more skeletal. I use that word a lot when parsing the value of “The Chosen”.

I have not seen the Christmas special, but over the last two weeks, I binge-watched the first three seasons, just finishing up last night.

I liked it. I thought all of the actors did a great job. We can’t know all of the details of what happened 2000 years ago, but the scriptural parts were there, and, I thought, well done. I will watch the next season.

My favorite actor, other than the actor playing Jesus, was the actor playing Matthew.

Reading the backstory of how the production was conceived, promoted, and executed, well, it’s almost a miracle in itself.

As far as the believability and accuracy of the scripting goes, this is the best we have so far; we can argue whose version of scripture is more accurate, but for me, I’ll take this one for now. I loved Zeffirelli’s Jesus of Nazareth from the 70s. It helped me renew my faith when it needed it. I’m no biblical scholar, but I liken The Chosen to a 21st century Jesus of Nazareth .
