--- "The source is not Janne Hukkinen, he arranged the translation of the video from Finnish."

Clear. No question. Merely learning more about the "male" whose YouTube channel you posted.

--- "Martti J. Kari is the source. You can probably find other videos with him, but very few are translated into English. If you have time, you can watch some of them, or read his doctoral thesis."

And at this YouTube video, you can hear him tell of his involvement with the Ukraine government intelligence in "spring of 2020."

His thesis is that the Cold War never ended. Additionally that "information influence" is important, especially in coming elections. As he says, whenever the conversation begins to fade, someone comes to throw in a "new bone." Moreover "we try to polarize the people all the time." He then goes on to speak to Sweden's establishing a "psychological defense authority."

Näkökulmia Suomen historiaan 2023 - Martti J. Kari

He is a voice, now silenced by cancer. On many sides, there are voices saying similar things, even as from differing perspectives. But what is sure, on all sides, is that there is indeed "information influence" and governments moving towards "psychological defense authority." When the Overton window is cramped in, the latitude for differing opinions is also tamped down. This becomes in time the antithesis of "free speech" becomes evident in many places and by many voices.

I agree with the thesis that "the Cold War never ended." On all sides is my take.

Shall we move forward to discuss his dissertation? It is available in English as a PDF, 211 pages with university and committee imprimatur.

He concludes: "The status of cyber weapons in the field of international law today is equivalent to the status of nuclear weapons before the Limited Test Ban Treaty and Strategic Arms Limitations Treaties in the 1960s and 1970s. In other words, these weapons systems lack sufficient rules of engagement that, when combined with the fast pace of technological development, makes the cyber threat a serious security policy issue. With the acknowledgement of this special status of cyber weapons, it can be argued that the Cold War era theories of threat perception and the use of force can be applied to study and analyze these phenomena in cyberspace."

A difference between his conclusion and mine will be that I apply the notion of " cyber weapons" to all competing sides, as, if the Cold War never ended, then all sides in a multi-polar world of competing powers will array their cyber weapons in similar manner to those "strategic arms" which are also in the equation.

In a dangerous and multi-polar world, it is not sensible to think in simplistic terms. Many variables, for any of us who have solved multi-variable problems, and the more complex all becomes.

His [Kari] thesis is that the Cold War never ended.

I [Worldtraveller]agree with the thesis that “the Cold War never ended.” On all sides is my take.

In the 90s, I actually thought that the Cold War ended in 1991, but it seems that Kari, Egon Krenz and you believe that it did not:

Egon Krenz still takes an interest in politics. And still supports Moscow. “After weak presidents like Gorbachev and Yeltsin, it is a great fortune for Russia that it has [President Vladimir] Putin.” He insists the Cold War never ended, but instead is “being fought now with different methods.”

We in the West might say that the Cold War ended in 1991, but the mentality of the Mongolian conquest is so deeply embedded in Russian structures that they continue in the old style. In other words, here we have Cold War 2.0, but in Russia it is just a continuation of the original version.
