When dining in restaurants, a lot of law enforcement want their backs to the wall and where they can watch people coming and going. Seasoned travelers will count the number of seat heads between them and an emergency exit on planes.
Son’s best friend was a Secret Service agent & when he flew, he was always armed whether for work or personal. He told the story about checking in to fly back to DC & checking in at the counter. He got on the plane and the stewardess came up to him before taking off & said it so everyone around him could hear if he was their armed SS agent on the plane. Said it pissed him off because it made him a target & he wanted to nap. She basically outed the only help she had if something on that flight went south on the crew.
I liked it because whenever he and my son hung out in DC, he was always armed. My son has CC but only for Virginia and that took him 6 months to get & he has TS clearance!!
My daughter dated a boy in HS whose father was a police detective. This was about 15 or 20 years ago. At the graduation party we hosted, he had his face to the exits at all times. He knew where our two gates to the backyard were. He knew where our front door and back door were. He talked very little. It was a little odd, but we all understood. He was ready to act (and protect) if anything happened. I’m quite certain he was carrying, even though few of us were.
