A handful of the 51 signatories of the debunked letter which falsely called Hunter Biden’s laptop “Russian disinformation” are now calling on Congress to expand the scope of domestic surveillance in the United States.
As reported by the Daily Caller, the letter to House lawmakers on Tuesday was signed by former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper, former Deputy Director for the National Security Agency (NSA) Richard Ledgett, former Deputy CIA Director Michael Morell, former CIA Chief of Staff Jeremy Bash, and former NSA General Counsel Glenn Gerstell. All five men had previously signed the controversial letter in 2020 claiming, without evidence, that information found on the recently-unearthed laptop of Hunter Biden was all “Russian propaganda” meant to influence the 2020 election.
In their new letter, the former intelligence community officials voiced their opposition to a bill that would reduce the ability of intelligence agencies to spy on Americans without a warrant. At the same time, they offered up praise for a bill that would allow surveillance of any location where internet access is provided.
“We cannot hamstring the U.S. Intelligence Community either by failing to renew Section 702 of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act or by limiting it in ways that would make it difficult for the government to protect Americans,” the letter reads in part. “To be clear, Section 702 saves American lives and helps keep Americans safe from international terrorist attacks, foreign cyberattacks, overseas fentanyl suppliers, and other threats to our national security. There’s no substitute for it.”
In recent weeks, the House Judiciary Committee has been working on possible reforms to Section 702 of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA), the controversial provision which ultimately allowed the intelligence agencies to spy on then-candidate Donald Trump’s presidential campaign in 2016, under the false pretenses that he was “colluding” with Russia.
“Reasonable minds might disagree on the details of the various reforms that might be needed, even as included in the [House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence] bill,” they add. “But it presents a rigorous approach to the challenges and attempts in a responsible way to balance privacy protections and our nation’s safety.”
Despite the claims in their 2020 letter, numerous mainstream media outlets eventually verified the authenticity of Hunter’s laptop and all of the information contained on it, which included details about Hunter’s numerous foreign business deals, his efforts to sell access to his father while he was Vice President, as well as his frequent drug use and solicitation of prostitutes, among other scandalous revelations.
It has since been revealed that the letter was orchestrated by the Biden campaign, under the direction of then-campaign advisor Antony Blinken, who now serves as Biden’s Secretary of State.
A Christmas terrorist attack (by sleeper cells they let walk across the border) would guarantee that FISA gets expanded.
Or government agents disguised as foreign combatants.
Every one of those scum should be hanged.
After a fair speedy trial of course.
Traitors, every one.
I’m not sure about all of that but I am pretty sure that we can do more about fentanyl by just closing the Southern boarder
I wouldn’t put it past them for a “fundraiser”.
If there were ever to exist a more lucid exposure of the shameless anti-American inclinations of these people who signed that letter characterizing the Hunter Biden laptop as “Russian Disinformation”, this is it.
In their new letter, the former intel officials, and laptop debunkers,
opposed a bill to reduce the ability of intel agencies to spy on Americans without a warrant.
At the same time, the debunkers would allow surveillance
of Americans, at any location where internet access is provided.
More spying on Americans….that’s the ticket!
Look at how the people who attended the J6 political rally or even people who flew into DC as airline passengers for any reason are being tracked even now.
And those subversives attending traditional Mass. tracking them too.
Parents who challenge school boards about perversion curricula…ditto
Despite intel types debunking hunter’s laptop in their 2020 letter,
numerous mainstream media outlets eventually verified its authenticity
<><>plus all the salacious info in Hunter’s voluminous emails
<><>details about Hunter’s numerous influence-peddling foreign business deals,
<><>his efforts to sell access to his father while Joe was VP (obama knew nothing),
<><>his frequent drug use authenticated w/ pics of a high Hunter
<><>Hunter’s soliciting and trafficking w/ prostitutes,
<><>a hilarious reference to Hunter “accidentally” paying a prostie using Joe’s funds
<><>among many, many other scandalous revelations.
Mow them down
Or it will prove the FBI is useless
For those confused. There are two bills to modify the FISA702 reauthorization in the House.
(1) HR 6611 from the House Intel Committee and
(2) HR 6570 from the House Judiciary Committee.
The intel committee bill expands domestic surveillance authority under the modifications; the judiciary committee bill requires the DOJ to get a search warrant before they can look at the incidental collection of American citizens.
Both bills came out of committee and were scheduled for a floor vote tomorrow, which has been cancelled due to public outcry (good job).
Speaker Mike Johnson initially planned to let both bills get voted tomorrow and the bill with the most votes advances to the Senate. That’s a hot mess.
The House Intel Committee bill organized by Chairman Mike Turner is absolutely horrible. It expands FISA702 surveillance and makes things much worse. The House Judiciary Bill organized by Chairman Jim Jordan is not structurally that much better, but it does put strong curtailments on the 702 surveillance authority by forcing the DOJ to get actual court approved search warrants on American citizens.
It should not come as a surprise to see a panel of 46 experts in Deep State weaponization come out in support of the Intelligence Committee bill, and then decry the insufferable 702 limitations put into place in the Judiciary Committee bill. The bad guys want the House Intel version.
That’s a who’s-who list of 46 Deep State weaponization operatives, all supporting the Mike Turner version.
Turner lied when he said his HR 6611 bill was supported by John Ratcliffe and Devin Nunes. It’s not, and they don’t. Both Nunes and Ratcliffe support a panel within the process who have eyes on everything that is being done and can conduct immediate oversight. Chairman Mike Turner is a big fibber, and y’all can tell him I said that.
The Deep State folks love the Turner bill (6611) because it makes the surveillance even easier by granting even more authority in their warrantless searches. The Deep State folks do not like the Jordan bill (6570) because it requires a search warrant to look at the material, which means a predicate justification must exist.
Both bills suck, but the Jordan bill sucks less.
Speaker Johnson abandoned the competing same-day floor vote effort, and no one is sure where it goes from here; but that’s probably why the Deep State guys are writing a letter trying to influence Johnson on what bill to permit a vote.
In the meantime, the current FISA-702 authorization will likely be “short-term” renewed through April 19, 2024, as part of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), while congress figures out which long-term reform bill to send to the Senate.
It’s all a hot mess.
We The People just don’t want to be under surveillance, but we have no representation.
They gotta keep their secrets under wraps and harass anyone who exposes them.
This is the kind of crap these dirtbags were covering for.
This slimy thing hangs out in the White House.

There was an old joke in New Mexico about how one guy would break into your house. And the next week his cousin would stop by and try to sell you burglar bars for your windows.
FISA is an excellent way to get information that can be used as blackmail.
Expand the scope of domestic surveillance in the United States.
The Bolsheviks will use all the power they can to gain more control before the election it’s their last chance at it going to get nasty and messy.
“Every one of those scum should be hanged.
After a fair speedy trial of course.
Traitors, every one.”
Thats right ... they should be shot, court-martialed, and sent to the Ukraine Front!
