Has he shut down his comment section or Twitter yet?
That ain’t the point.
They were using it to spy on whoever they wanted without warrants.
No one argued about what they were doing to foreigners or suspects. It was the warrantless searches for American citizens.
Someone elects him. And it isn’t people from Illinois.
That better happen before liberals take over enough of the big cities that they’ll overwhelm elections like they do in places like NY, Cali, Illinois, Wisconsin and damn near every Blue State.
You make a great point.
One of the House versions, Jordan’s, just requires a warrant for Americans information. That’s it. And it would establish a panel that would have oversight of what they’re doing.
Do folks remember when they were calling out the FBI conducting over 250,000 searches for no investigative reason. They found agents looking up old girlfriends. And, if a local cop did the same, who investigates and goes after them? The FBI.
Why can’t they have some oversight?
As someone that has experience in drafting warrants, it isn’t hard. I’ve written them on the back of a patrol car.
And these agencies have lawyers assigned to them, whose only job is to help draft warrants. For a lot of them, outside of certain information, it’s boilerplate. And if it’s for info like phone records, damn near everyone of them is going to read the same.
On top of all of that, there’s always Exigent Circumstances, which allows the search for an emergency, but paperwork will have to be drafted later to explain why. IE….if there is a murder or kidnapping, where time is of the essence, and they have to track a phone.
The fact that the FBI is pushing back against the warrant requirement should tell us all we need to know. They’ll be able to do what they want and what they’ve been doing.
“It has to be fixed...in the meantime...you don’t throw the whole thing out...It’s the 21st century...Terrorists have phones these days...”
It is a toss up to which is actually worse. I would rather look under my own bed and in my own underwear drawer for terrorists than have the government terrorist goons do it without my permission or knowledge.
Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT) warned in an interview with Breitbart News Daily that the alleged short-term extension of a deep state surveillance law could extend it well into 2025.
Lee spoke to Breitbart News Daily host Mike Slater as members of the “Firm,” or the collective that is Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA), House Majority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY), Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY), and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY), have ruled that they would put a short-term extension of Section 702 of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA). This controversial surveillance law will expire in just a few short weeks.
As the Utah senator explained, although the text of the legislation would allow Section 702 to continue to April 19, lawmakers hope to strike a compromise to reauthorize Section 702 with reforms.
Lee called the “Firm” argument that this would only amount to a short-term extension of Section 702 “deceptive,” as the intelligence agencies could likely get certification right before the April deadline to keep operating for another year.
You’re right. It can’t be fixed. It is too far gone. Too compromised. It has to be built back from a clean foundation. It is a house that is in too terrible a condition to ever be repaired.
Another POS RINO!
Thanks, I just let him know what I thought of him.
We need to start locking for someone ro replace him now! Do you think Paxton will run?
And Biden needs to shut up about Israel. Actually, just shut up period.
