Good question... It hasn’t happened to date (about 7 months since my diagnosis) so... So far so good. The surgeon said that I could be prone to urinary tract infections, but that antibiotics should take care of it when that happens.

He said that the operation wasn’t absolutely necessary and that if I ever decided to get it done, that it could be done at any time. So surgery is still an option, it’s just that I’d rather wait until it’s absolutely needed...

Then there is the rare, but possible complications associated with the surgery. It involves clamping your colon on two sides, unhooking the attached area, then a long hospital stay of a week or two. If complications do occur, I would then require a colostomy. Which would be needed for about 7 to 8 months, and then an operation to fix that.

I thought... What the heck... I’ll take an antibiotic every now and then.

I don’t blame you for putting off the surgery then. I think it a good idea to avoid surgery whenever possible.
