The USA admits to 500K casualties. It is unlikely to be less and probably a good deal more.

That alone would suggest Ukraine ~175K killed.

Russian deaths are estimated at 50K.

https://www.npr.org/2023/07/14/1187847548/how-many-russians-have-died-in-ukraine-new-data-estimates-soldier-casualties

They have a ~7:1 artillery advantage and 80 % of casualties in this war are from artillery.

A pure ratio estimate would be 350K Ukrainian killed as of August. Add 25% more for the additional 4 months you get to ~450K Ukrainian killed.

There are an estimated 50K amputations in Ukraine (includes civilians)

In Korea, 3 percent of casualties resulted in amputation.

That would imply over 1.6 million Ukraine casualties and easily more than 500K deaths

“That would imply over 1.6 million Ukraine casualties and easily more than 500K deaths.”

Ukraine has nothing even remotely close to 1.6 million forces in uniform, including reservists, provincial police forces, etc.; let alone 1.6 million military casualties.

You guys are a trip.

"If it was such a military debacle Russia would have won the war within the first 36 hours."

They could have, had they opted to use three or four hydrogen bombs...

If your numbers are accurate the Ukrainians should be commended for their heroism.
However the methods you used are imprecise to say the least.
For example, amputees being 3% of casualties in Korea. I suspect many more amputees survive in 2023 than in the 1950’s.
Russia has more artillery, it also has many more soldiers to sacrifice in mass attacks.
In any event, casualties are heavy on both sides.
IF Russia has so much artillery advantage and has killed 1.5 million while only losing 50k to a much smaller country, then you tell me why the war isn’t over.

So what is your point about hydrogen bombs? Which is a ridiculous remark as hydrogen bombs tend to be massive explosions not needed to attack any objective in Ukraine.
They could use nuclear artillery shells, but they won’t either.

That would be 1.5 million casualties extrapolated from the amputations, not 1.5 million deaths.

I think the Ukrainian army holding together with the kind of losses they have had is remarkable.

They got into their vehicles time and time again during the counteroffensive, and then attacked on foot.

Any Western Army would have mutinied and disintegrated long before this.

I can think of only one other army that could match them. And that is Russia.

Ukraine is on its third army. In a number of cases, Western reporters have interviewed battalion commanders who admit 90+ percent of their initial soldiers became casualties.

Here’s a news report from December 8, 2023 (three days ago):

https://www.cbc.ca/news/world/russia-ukraine-1.7053035

I’ve been following this war since February, 2022. I have seen NO reports of 500,000 Ukrainian military KIA. And that, kid, is what the claim has been on this thread.

You can “extrapolate” to your heart’s content (as some sources do); but none of those sources come up with anything near your claims of 500,000 Ukrainian KIA, let alone 1.6 million Ukrainian combat casualties.

You guys are entertaining; I’ll give you that.

The problem with negotiating now, is that after Merkel confessed Minsk was just a ruse to build up forces, the Russians have no reason to believe in any cease-fire agreement. I doubt there will be a cease-fire unless there are material demonstrations of good faith, like lifting all sanctions, western countries returning the stolen yachts and properties, returning the impounded cash and gold etc.

It’s hard to conduct negotiations when you don’t live up to your agreements like NATO and the western alliance.

Here is a good analysis of Minsk. You will note that its focus is on Russia’s singular interpretation of the protocol as opposed to everyone else’s.

It makes for interesting reading.

Duh !

No-one has “reported” it in the elite Ukraine supporting media. But they publish Regime propaganda like Ukraine winning which is not credible.

This CBC story says there are 200K Ukraine casualties in Dec when “US Officials” admitted in the NY Times back in August it was 500K.

https://www.nytimes.com/2023/08/18/us/politics/ukraine-russia-war-casualties.html

Did you believe the “body counts” that the US military released in Vietnam ?

That’s why people are doing estimates based on artillery ratios and amputation prosthetic counts.

I don’t think dissident and citizen researchers and analysts have to apologize for our estimates, vs internally inconsistent Regime lies.

Our stuff is based on publicly available and confirmable data. Theirs is based on leaks from Regime elites.

Merkel literally said it was was is nothing but a chance to build up forces. It was a lie and a scam. Just like negotiations now for a cease-fire are designed to take the pressure off Ukraine, and turn it into what they call a frozen conflict. Ukraine will not relinquish their dubious claim to Crimea and the Donbass. But they are on the ropes right now. The scam now is to get a cease-fire, then without risk, NATO led by us and they Brits, intend to flood Ukraine with all the military equipment we can get, fighter squadrons, as many missiles as we can buy from Raytheon, ammo, tracks etc. Then we will conclude a NATO-lite defense pact with Ukraine, if not outright membership.

Of course, the western alliance fully in towns to keep all the stolen loot and keep all the sanctions alive. Merkel and NATO lied during the Minsk accords.

TOTAL BS. The Zeepers ALL know that Ukraine is getting their asses kicked, as they see what we see, but for whatever reason(s), they have to continue to claim it’s a contest.

The people who don’t know the truth are those who spend all their time on Facebook, not those here, not a single one of them.

Well, it was not that long ago after one of the pitched battles when the MSM was still allowed to interview living casualties that it was brought out that the Ukrainians were losing 5 men to one of the Russians. So, do the math.

Ah, you draw your conclusion based on one pitched battle; one pitched battle in a war that has lasted almost three years. (And, BTW: Which pitched battle was it?)

By your logic, the North got absolutely clobbered and lost the Civil War because of Jackson routing them in the Shenandoah Valley in 1862. Federal forces (in excess of 50,000) outnumbered Jackson’s command (17,000); and yet, Jackson drove the Federal forces up and out of the valley, forcing the Federals to retreat across the Potomac.
